This project entailed taking a 7,517 SF, single-story maintenance shop for the State of Utah and converting it into 13,900 SF of new office space for the Utah Department of Transportation in the central Utah area. The project included the removal of the existing loading dock, ramp, hazardous chemical storage, storage canopy, mechanical, electrical and fire suppression systems, overhead doors, and interior maintenance offices. New construction included new interior and exterior structural concrete for the 4,543 SF addition and the 1,800 SF second-floor interior file storage & mechanical mezzanine areas.
The addition work utilized contrasting split face red & buff masonry units, together with sloping store front entrances, to complement the existing structure. The new roofing system incorporates the use of standing seam insulated panels to match the existing profiles that tie into the new metal roof edge details surrounding the entire building. Superintendent Bruce Colton led a good team of subcontractors through the short 120 day schedule allocated for the entire transformation.
