CommonGrounds Workspace

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Originally constructed in 1905, the Orpheum Theater was built in 1905 as Salt Lake City’s first high-quality vaudeville theater. The interior and stage area of the original building underwent conversion into office space in 2003, while the original facade remained intact. The architect for the Orpheum was Carl M. Neuhausen, who also designed the Thomas Kearns mansion (Governor’s Mansion on 603 E. South Temple). The theater facade is an excellent surviving example of Second Renaissance Revival architecture. The entire three-story, 27,000 square foot historic building at 132 South State Street in downtown Regent Theater District in Salt Lake is now CommonGrounds’ newest location. The Two and a half million dollar renovation included a near-complete demolition of the entire building’s interior and comprehensive tenant improvements, while retaining the architectural details of the 115-year-old original Orpheum Theater building. High-Tech, flexible work-space. A sense of community. Sound proof conference rooms. Professional office image and design. CommonGrounds provides flexible, scalable, modern workplaces with a vibrant culture.
