Anchorage Alaska Temple

Description

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints selected Westland to be the CM/GC on one of their most northern latitude Temple facilities. Because of the short working season in Alaska, and the remote nature of the project, there was no room for error in coordination & scheduling. The project was completed within the scheduled eight months, and was only possible through careful planning and 60-70 hour work weeks. This project used a ‘fast track’ approach. Westland had completed the footing and foundations while final reviews were happening with the owner on the architectural portion of the project. This also created a situation in which everyone was required to work together and keep the lines of communication open, clear, and expedited. The 6,500 SF addition and the 7,500 SF remodel were both delivered on schedule, a great testament to the abilities of the Westland staff.
