Westland Construction built the Beaver Valley Hospital addition and remodel for the Municipal Building Authority of Beaver City, with VCBO Architecture as architect. The project modernized and expanded Beaver County’s only hospital with about 91,000 square feet of additions and renovations across two levels. Construction began in September 2021 and ran in seven phases so the hospital could keep providing 24-hour care. The work touched nearly every department. It added a new emergency department, expanded imaging and surgical suites, labor and delivery with a nursery, infusion, laboratory and pharmacy spaces, and updated long-term care areas. Campus improvements include a new clinic, a behavioral health building, and a helipad with snowmelt systems and heated walkways. Major infrastructure upgrades include medical gas with bulk oxygen storage, custom air handlers, chillers, boilers, an emergency generator and nurse call. The team carefully coordinated relocations, utility shutdowns and infection control around active emergency, surgical and maternity services, and delivered a full modernization without ever closing the hospital’s doors.
