Description
The Richfield High School project is a demolition & rebuild of an existing educational campus. Before new construction began, Westland managed the complete demolition of building #4, approximately 3,100 sq. ft.; partial demo of building #2, approximately 17,690 sq ft.; and demo of existing post tension tennis courts, miscellaneous sidewalks, asphalt parking and landscaped areas. Excavation and structural fill placement was done for the new construction area. The new structure consists of a two-story building with mechanical mezzanines, which will utilize concrete footings, foundations and slab, concrete block masonry walls, structural steel, steel roof joists and decking. There are major, existing structural elements remaining. Those will be integrated into the new building. They include an auxiliary gymnasium, a wrestling room with locker rooms, a band room, and an older gym #2.
