Westland Construction completed a structural upgrade of the historic Brigham and Mary Ann Young Home in Nauvoo, Illinois, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with CRSA Architecture as architect. Westland won the work by competitive bid. The work began in April 2025 and reached substantial completion in June 2026. The brick home was built in 1841, and the Young family lived there from 1843 until they left Nauvoo for the West in February 1846. A full enclosure protected the home during construction. The team strengthened its structure and preserved most of the original 1840s construction. The east and west wings were rebuilt with brick fired using methods that match the 1840s originals, and an accessibility ramp was added. Elder Gerrit W. Gong rededicated the home on June 27, 2026, along with the new Nauvoo Temple Visitors’ Center. A new guided tour now tells the story of the Young family’s preparations for the journey west.
