Westland Construction built the new 20,200-square-foot Nauvoo Temple Visitors’ Center for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with CRSA Architecture as architect. Construction began in July 2024 and reached substantial completion in May 2026. Set across from the Nauvoo Illinois Temple, with large windows framing views of it, the center now serves as the main starting point for visitors to historic Nauvoo. Its centerpiece is an 1896 Tiffany art-glass window of Christ titled “Come Unto Me.” The exhibits also include one of only three surviving sunstones from the original 1846 temple, an original moonstone, a replica of the temple’s 54-foot exterior columns, and a 236-seat theater. Elder Gerrit W. Gong dedicated the center on June 27, 2026, giving visitors a lasting place to learn about the history and purpose of temples.
