Project Overview

Westland Construction built the new 27,500-square-foot Querétaro Mexico Temple for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with MHTN Architects as architect. Westland won the work by competitive bid. Ground was broken in January 2023 on a 3.58-acre site in Querétaro, about 135 miles northwest of Mexico City, for what will be Mexico’s 15th temple. The two-story temple reflects the Spanish Colonial and mission architecture of the region, with a white exterior, a scalloped mission-style parapet over the entrance, decorative iron window grilles and art glass. Its multi-tiered tower rises past Corinthian columns to a blue and gold tiled cupola crowned by a gold lantern and finial. A two-story ancillary building with rounded arches, palm-lined walkways and ornamental fencing complete the grounds. The temple gives members across central Mexico a lasting place of worship built to the Church’s exacting temple standards.
