For more than 100 years, Spanish Fork residents have relied on a department of volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel to respond to emergency calls and residential fires. To meet the needs of their growing population, city officials began construction on a second fire station to improve response times and better serve their community. The 14,500 sq. ft. state-of-the-art public safety facility was built on a tight site with limited staging areas and features a modern, one-level design. Station 62, which was completed ahead of schedule, has seven firefighter dorm rooms, three pull-through entrances, a 3-bay Apparatus Bay with storage mezzanine, fitness room, training/meeting room, full kitchen/dining area with island, two oven/ranges, three fridges and dishwasher, day room, and police office and interview room.
“In just ten months, the outcome of our partnership was a modern, state-of-the-art public safety facility for the city, which went on to win multiple industry awards, including Utah Construction & Design Magazine’s 2020 Most Outstanding Project, Firehouse Magazine’s Bronze Station Award, and an AIA Western Mountain Region Merit Award in Design Excellence.”
