Westland Construction renovated the Toronto Ontario Temple for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with P23 Architecture as architect. The renovation ran from October 2023 to December 2024. It reconfigured the 1990 temple’s interior to upgrade the aging design and improve accessibility. The main entry received new vestibule glass, finishes, lighting and a welcome area, and the waiting room gained more seating and a family washroom. The former commercial kitchen and dining room were repurposed for an expanded baptistry with an art glass entry, larger confirmation and dressing rooms, upgraded dome lighting and refreshed oxen. The instruction rooms and celestial room were updated with new seating, carpet and furnishings that improve comfort and wheelchair access, and the east grand staircase received new crown molding and a finish refresh. A major mechanical upgrade added a new chiller, fluid cooler, air handling units and controls to improve comfort and reduce energy use. The temple was rededicated on March 23, 2025, and continues to give members across Eastern Canada a lasting place of worship built to the Church’s exacting temple standards.
